(If you don’t read the whole thing - this is an amazing gym for everyone, WOMEN ESPECIALLY. This is the best, SAFEST, while also being hardcore and legit gym I’ve trained at being a 5’ 100lbs woman. If you’re a woman new to BJJ and looking for a gym, or looking to switch up your current one, come train here!!!) I’m leaving this review having only been a member of the gym for a few weeks- I am excited to leave another review in a year because truly I can absolutely see myself staying at this gym for at LEAST that long- hopefully longer! For context, I’ve been training BJJ on and off for 8ish years, and competed in college. I’ve visited and traveled to a lot of gyms over the years and seen a lot. Boring stuff first- is the gym clean, is the membership process easy, etc. The gym is SPOTLESS. Literally the mats are so clean, as well as all surrounding areas. There are several completely private changing rooms and lots of places to either hang up your stuff or you can use a locker as well. Truly have never seen such a clean and organized gym like this. The membership process was easy breezy and there were a couple options to choose from which was appreciated. Okay- the interesting stuff - Coach Brian (purple belt) and Coach Jimmy (black belt) are both extremely knowledgeable and also just like… nice people. They both break down complicated techniques in easy to understand ways and are both impressively patient and even-keeled. If you’ve been around BJJ for a bit, you’ll understand that very good & talented coaches that don’t have massive egos is a rare find. The gym community itself is extremely welcoming and just very sweet and warm. Don’t get me wrong- they’re killers on the mat and we work HARD. But the vast majority of people who train BJJ are doing it for fun and as hobby, so it’s truly special to be in an environment where you’re simultaneously held to a high training standard while still being treated with the understanding that you’re a regular human adult with a full time job and other commitments. There’s a wide range of belts that show up which is amazing and makes class interesting and increases the efficacy of rolling after class. Every training partner I’ve had has been respectful and polite while still going hard. Any women reading this- it’s HADD to find a gym where the coaches AND the majority of members have experience rolling with women and don’t make it weird or go too hard/too easy. Truly this place feels like a hidden gem. Special shout out to Erica, the co-owner, Coach Brian is her husband and she made joining the gym seamless and is an absolute rockstar at her job and has been such a lovely ambassador of the gym. Some things that I wish were different- would love if they were able to install showers at some point! Would also be great to have striking classes added at some point. I think there were but there wasn’t enough interest so they stopped them. Super fair, but I’m just speaking for myself and my wishes. And that’s it! Those are the only things I wish were different. Truly this gym and the people are absolutely stellar, come train with us!

From childhood, Jiu-Jitsu has been a part of my life, but it took a long pause until just 3 weeks ago when I decided to step back onto the mats at Binda JiuJitsu. The moment I walked through the doors, the sense of family was undeniable. There's a unique atmosphere here; it's devoid of egos, which is refreshingly rare in the martial arts world. Everyone, from the students to the instructors, is here to learn, grow, and support each other, making Binda JiuJitsu more than just a gym—it's a community.

Coach Brian stands out for his exceptional patience and dedication. He possesses a rare talent for teaching, demonstrating each technique with clarity and taking the time to ensure everyone understands. This level of attention is invaluable, especially for someone like me, returning after a long break. His approach makes the learning process both enjoyable and effective.

Erica's stretching and mobility class on Wednesday nights has been a revelation. It's the perfect complement to the rigorous training, helping to improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury. Her expertise and the practical application of her techniques have significantly enhanced my overall experience at the gym.

What has truly solidified my admiration for Binda Jiu Jitsu, however, is the welcoming environment extended not just to me but to my family. My wife and our 9-month-old son have become regular spectators, attending 3 out of 5 days a week. This inclusive atmosphere, where my family feels comfortable and engaged, is something I've never experienced at any other gym.

Binda Jiu Jitsu has rekindled my passion for Jiu-Jitsu in a way I didn't think possible. It's not just about the training; it's about being part of a community that values respect, growth, and family. I'm grateful to have found such a supportive environment, and I look forward to continuing my journey here. If you're considering Jiu-Jitsu, whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a complete novice, I cannot recommend Binda JiuJitsu highly enough.

Team is not only in the name, but it is the culture that has been successfully created by the coaches at Binda Jiu Jitsu - Team Resilience. With no prior BJJ experience, I was not sure what to expect when signing up for this gym, but the experience has been nothing short of stellar. They have crafted an extremely welcoming, incredible culture and the environment is perfect for learning. After every class, I leave successfully having learned something and having enjoyed myself throughout the process. The coaches are extremely patient and more than willing to show you things at your own pace. If you are looking to be part of a team that will treat you like family, then Team Resilience is the way to go!

After some time away I recently returned to the Binda Jiu Jitsu team at their new Merrimac, MA location, Binda – Team Resilience. As I was when I first began training Jiu Jitsu, I was anxious to return to training, and knowing the Binda environment I was looking forward to it.
The environment that Coach Brian and his wife Erica have created is one of family, a supportive and encouraging one. Jiu Jitsu is a very adaptable art, allowing you to learn the techniques in a manner much differently than traditional, linear martial arts, allowing the player to perform the moves as their physical capacity allows. Add to that the welcoming and inclusive environment at Binda Jiu Jitsu Team Resilience, and it makes it very easy to make it to class multiple times a week.
The experience of the instructors is high-level, with thorough instruction from multiple points of perspective, giving suggestions for technique application as fitting to the practitioner. As part of the Binda team, many high-level instructors bring their knowledge to the class, allowing students to learn from a variety of teachers, each bringing their own styles and favorite moves. Their enthusiasm for the instruction is contagious, and you can easily understand why this is a sport that anyone can do, for long periods of time, if not making it a lifelong endeavor.
I encourage you to stop in to experience Binda Team Resilience, observe a class, and try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Our experience at Binda Jiu Jitsu - Team Resilience in Merrimac has been nothing short of fantastic, especially for my 5-year-old son. The children’s program here is incredibly well-designed to introduce young kids to the basics of Jiu Jitsu in a fun, safe, and engaging way.

The instructors are phenomenal with children. They have a remarkable ability to teach complex techniques in a manner that young kids can understand and enjoy. They focus on games and activities that not only teach Jiu Jitsu but also promote important values such as respect, discipline, and teamwork. My son always looks forward to his Jiu Jitsu classes, and I’ve noticed significant improvements in his coordination, fitness, and confidence.

The environment is very child-friendly, with clean facilities and a safe mat area where parents can watch their kids during class. The staff and other parents are welcoming, making both kids and families feel like part of a community. It’s a great place for children to make new friends while learning a valuable skill.

Overall, Binda Jiu Jitsu - Team Resilience is a fantastic choice for parents looking to involve their children in a positive and developmental activity. My son loves it here, and we are thrilled to see him grow in such a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Highly recommended for any parent considering martial arts for their child.

First thing I noticed was that this gym is super clean and bright! Not cave like at all. The owners and staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Walking in as someone that is a total beginner, I immediately felt welcome. I have often found gyms to be intimidating especially as a female. Not the case here! Happy to have such a nice gym in the area.
